In this tutorial i go over in detail the basics of maya fluids. This set of 3 goes over creating a basic smoke effect using a 2d fluid, how to emit from objects and how to make your fluid interact with geometry.
This is just a general overview however as it will explain a lot of the things crucial to going off on your own and creating your own fluids!
